What Causes Watery Diarrhea When Diagnosed With Collagenous Colitis?
My problem now is that since three months I got eczema and the dermatologist put me on 20mg prednisone.
Now and for 20 days I got watery diarrhea most probably an episode of collagenous colitis ( as I am on Sertraline which is a trigger of collagenous colitis) .
My question is : Shall I stop the prednisone and start the budesonide ? My watery diarrhea is really severe and I am losing weight.
The other question is : I want to stop the prednisone and start to treat the collagenous colitis so shall I stop the prednisone. Thanks for your prompt answer as the diarrhea is making me very weak.
I just want to add that I will switch from Sertraline to Efexor
Send the stool samples for 3 consecutive day?

> Ideally Prednisone too is effective in colitis. May be 20 mg is the lower dose as for the present condition.
Watery diarrhea: send the stool sample for lab test for 3 consecutive days - post the reports.
Add on probiotics, activated charcoal, yogurt and tell me the effects.
Stool test may guide the further management.
The other question is : I want to stop the prednisone and start to treat the collagenous colitis so shall I stop the prednisone. Thanks for your prompt answer as the diarrhea is making me very weak.
> Let your treating Doctor decide as He would know the clinical details the best. Change over to Budesonide may not be much helpful as both are steroids and are known to work effectively against collagenous colitis.
I hope this answer helps you in decision making.
