Brief Answer:
ACL tear needs surgery

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX
If there is ACL ligament tear then you will need surgery as this ligament is necessary for knee function. Without this your knee will be unstable and you can fell and more damage to knee can occur.
As far as your office job is concerned, after surgery you will need 4 week rest. Best time to get ACL surgery is 3 weeks after injury. More delay will cause effect on result.
If you are coming in office,I would advice you to wear rigid knee brace to protect your knee. You should not use stairs and also should not do squatting or ground level sitting.
If you give me your detail, I can advice you best surgeon near by you to get this surgery.
I hope this answer will help you. Let me know if you want to ask any other question. Thanks.

Brief Answer:
Can you send me your MRI

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX
You have not mention this in your question that your tear is partial. If you are feeling lax leg and instability during walking then it means that remaining fibers are not sufficient to take care of your knee.

If there is no instability then you can wait and watch. You have to wear knee brace and take precaution as I mentioned before.

If it is possible, send your MRI films and report to me. I will try my best to help you. Thanks.

Brief Answer:
you will be walking normally

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX
If there is significant laxity then surgery is only choice. Rest is not a solution because this will make your muscles weak. After surgery you will be completely normal. Walking is allowed after 15 days. You can play game also after 9 months. If you want you can show it to me in my clinic.
Whether you will need surgery or not, can be decided on the basis of your symptoms and clinical examination. I have seen some patients in which MRI was showing partial tear but they were having laxity and ultimately needed surgery.
Let me know if you want to ask any other question.
Thanks and take care.
