What Causes Weakness And Tingling In The Legs And Feet In Elderly?

default
Posted on Mon, 11 May 2015
Question: I am a 57 year old woman. For the last 6 -8 mos I have been experiencing weakness and tingling in my legs & feet, excruciating cramps in my feet, extremely tied all the time and although I have asma, I have been having to use my proair and advair twice a day where as I used to only have to use it periodically. Also, having a hard time remembering and concentrating kind of like the way ADHD is described. Am I just getting old?
I also feel as if my bladder is full all the time and I feel I have to urinate all the time but very little volume when I do go. No burning just the sensation all the time. This has been going on for the same 6-8 mos too.

Brief Answer:
Mostly age related changes.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
The weakness and tingling in the legs and feet can be related to age related degenerative changes in the spine. This can happen due to a mild nerve root compression. You can consult a neurophysician and get methylcobalamin supplements prescribed. Do increase your fluids and fresh juicy fruits intake to correct any electrolyte imbalance.
The lack of concentration is again an age related change. Antioxidant supplements and keeping your mind busy with puzzles will help in improving memory.
The feeling of fullness and frequent urination can be due to overactive bladder or due to a urinary infection. Get a urine culture sensitivity done and start with pelvic floor exercises to help it.
Please feel free to discuss further. I will be glad to answer the follow up queries that you have.
Wishing you good health.
