Brief Answer:
details please

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

I understand you have concerns about weight gain and loss of interest in sex after hysterectomy.

Let me know if both ovaries are removed during hysterectomy. If possible please attach summary of hysterectomy surgery to know if ovaries are conserved or removed.

This will help in evaluating hormonal causes for this problem.

Brief Answer:
HRT needed

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

When ovaries are removed, there is decreased hormones called estrogen which are produced from ovary.

Hence there is likely chance of decreased sexual interest.

Please start on hormonal replacement therapy ( HRT ) which will bring back sexual drive.

Weight gain is age related. Increased in age leads to decreased metabolism. Hence increased storage of fat. But you can try to decrease it by doing physical exercises up to your stamina and maintain your diet

You need to have low calorie diet ( About 1000 calories) and increase the exercise.

Is there an over the counter HRT or o I need to make an appointment with a doctor? (The way I understood, this site was used so I didn't need to go to the doctors)
As for my weight gain, why is it I only put weight on once I had my hysterectomy.
I eat extremely healthy and I exercise an hour everyday.

Brief Answer:
Decreased metabolism leading to weight gain

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

HRT are given only with prescription. Hence your doctor can only write prescription.

This website will solve all your doubts and problems related to your illness and give you a detailed analysis for further action.

Writing prescription and performing surgery cannot be done by website as physical presence of doctor is required in such situations.

Weight gain is likely to be due to decreased metabolism rate of body ( meaning burning the food you have eaten) due to age. Hence I suggest you try to decrease food intake and increase exercise to compensate this.

This site is very misleading, it states at the start that this site saves a trip and cost to the doctors but I guess I should have trusted my instincts that all web sites that require a payment are a scam.

I work 10 hrs a day, I exercise 1 hour everyday and eat healthy. How can my weight gain be caused from age when I have maintained the same weight for 18 years and then since the hysterectomy it started piling on. Are you trying to tell me that once I hit 38 years of age I was destoned to become over weight and that the weight gain has nothing to do with a hysterectomy.
I have researched some sites about side affects from hysterectomy and they all state weight gain is a possibility.

I guess I just got sucked in with this site. Good Job

Brief Answer:
Combination of decreased metabolic rate with estrogen deficiency.

Detailed Answer:
Hello

Let me put it in a slightly different perspective.

There is age related decrease in basal metabolic rate which leads to increased weight gain. Happens to everyone. This coupled with estrogen deficiency ( due to removal of ovaries ) causes weight gain to become rapid. But hysterectomy alone (without removal of the ovaries) cannot be blamed for weight gain ( as per website search you mentioned). Its combination as I explained above.

Remember Hysterectomy alone is removal of the uterus alone. The uterus doesn't make any of the hormones that affect estrogen levels or metabolism in general.

Hysterectomy + Oophorectomy is what you may have had and the Oophorectomy (removal of the Ovaries) is what I believe is causing your estrogen deficiency, and worsening your already decreasing metabolic rate.

Now when it comes to getting a prescription for Medical Grade HRT therapy.. I can't give you that prescription. There are some over the counter preparations that may help you, but there have never been any very scientific studies to support their use. So it's a hit or miss.

Soybeans, Black Cohosh and a Chinese herb called Dong Quai have all been used as Natural Alternatives to Hormonal HRT and you can explore their use. Its just that I have no studies or Data that I can point to saying that they work for sure.

I hope I've been able to help you a bit. I'm sorry about not being able to give you a prescription online. Its just that it is against the law.

If there is anything else I can clarify for you. Let me know and I will.
