What Causes Weight Gain While On Paxil?

Question: i am 50 years old and have been on paxil cr 12.5 for four years, i have been on and off it for years since i was 30 for anxiety. each time i am on it i gain 30 lbs! my quality of life is much better on it but i just dont feel like myself with all this weight!!! is there something i could switch to? or is ok to get off of it and lose the weight and get back on if i need to. everytime i get off it the weight comes off. is there a great way to lose weight while taking it?

Although there are multiple options which can be used instead of paxil but I feel prozac will make a better choice as it is largely weight neutral and have similar properties of paxil when it comes to anxiety.


I do not think stopping paxil and reducing weight is great option as it will set a recycle of anxiety and weight gain in recurrent manner.

Regarding reducing weight you can go for regular exercise and diet modifications as this is the only viable option to manage weight in long term.
