What Causes Weight Loss And Fatigue In A Child During Teething?

Today as we were travelling my daughter passed 5 stools , normally she passes 3 stools in a day
Also I m feeling she is looking weak and I m not sure but seems like she has lost weight
Her weight was 9.4 kg last month
Her height is 78 cm
Is it ok to pass 5 stools?
Should I give her more liquids ?
Give her Zinc Supplement and oral rehydration
Detailed Answer:
Hi
I understand your concerns but don't worry. The most likely reason for such symptoms can be toddlers diarrhoea or self limiting viral gastroenteritis. You may start her on oral rehydration therapy such as soups, lemonade, buttermilk, ORS along with regular diet. This will help in maintaining hydration.
Also, start a zinc supplement such as Zn20 or Zinconia (5 ml once daily for 2 weeks) for early recovery and further immunity against similar episodes in next few months.
Avoid excessive sweetened juices or carbonated drinks to prevent toddler diarrhoea. There is no need for any other treatment at present.
Hopefully it will be of help. I would be happy to help you in any further questions.

Thanks a lot she is feeling better now
I have one more question
My daughter is quite hyper active these days
She doesn't sit at one place I mean she always needs a toy or something , cries when I change her clothes or diaper , and gets irritated
Also she puts her toy on floor and then again picks it up and repeats it few times
Secondly she would lie down on bed and then get up and again lie down
Are these normal behaviour for 15 months old?
Otherwise all her milestones are ok
I mean she asks for food and water , she calls and recognise everybody in the family and her growth is ok
She seems to be perfectly fine
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Good to know about her good health.
Her behaviour seems to be perfectly normal for her age. She is learning and trying to explore now and mild hyperactivity is fine. They do have temper tantrums at this age which needs proper management. So, you may try the following:
-Give plenty of positive attention. Get in the habit of catching your child being good. Reward your little one with praise and attention for positive behavior.
-Try to give your daughter some control over little things. Offer minor choices such as "Do you want orange juice or apple juice?" or "Do you want to brush your teeth before or after taking a bath?" This way, you aren't asking "Do you want to brush your teeth now?" — which inevitably will be answered "no."
-Keep off-limits objects out of sight and out of reach. This makes struggles less likely.
-Distract your child. Take advantage of your little one's short attention span by offering something else in place of what she can't have. Start a new activity to replace the frustrating or forbidden one. Or simply change the environment. Take your toddler outside or inside or move to a different room.
-Help her learn new skills and succeed. Praise her to help her feel proud of what she can do. Also, start with something simple before moving on to more challenging tasks.
-Consider the request carefully when your child wants something. Is it outrageous? Maybe it isn't. Choose your battles; accommodate when you can.
Hopefully it will be of help.
