What Causes Weight Loss While On Bisoprolol?

Question: I started taking bisoprolol 5/6.5 about two weeks ago on the recommendation of my doctor. I have noticed that I am losing weight and have lost about 5 pounds since starting the medication. I am quite thin already - 5'4 and I weigh about 108 now. I'm concerned about the loss of weight because I have been trying to eat more lately and it just seems to be coming off anyway. Is it possible that this is water weight from the bp medication? I have noticed a large increase in urination as well
Brief Answer:
Bisoprolol/HCT causing weight loss
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for contacting HCM with your concerns.
I am sorry to hear that you are having weight loss while on Bisoprolol/HCT. I agree with you that the water pill portion of your current medication is causing you to lose weight from water loss. I recommend that you contact your doctor and have him readjust your medication. In the mean time drink plenty of fluids to off set the fluid loss.
