What Causes Weird Odour And Yellow Coating On Tongue?
Question: Hi. I have been having a funny smell in my nose for the past month and have recently noticed orange/yellowing coating on my tongue. I had a follow-up with my ENt last week(year follow of sinus surgery peformed 2 years ago that opened up sinuses and removed polyps). Did not mention smell at the time as it was not bothering me as much. For past week now, I smell it all the time except for when I am eating or drinking something. Endoscopy looked clear except for some swelling, no clear sign of infection. Nevertheless, i went to my regular doctor who gave me a prescription for levaquin. Been on it for 5 days and no improvement. Have since made an appointment with a new ent for next week. I suffer from health anxiety and think this could be something serious. What could cause both the smell and the orange/yellow tongue. Reflux? Allergies ? I have always had a very weak sense of smell every since these allergies got really bad, but I have never had a funny smell. Thanks for your feedback.
Brief Answer:
The alteration in nasal mucosa plays a significant role.

Thanks for asking once again on HealthcareMagic.
The funny smell in your nose is likely to be associated with an allergic reaction and is associated with the component of sinusitis that you already have. The slight swelling as detected on the endoscopic examination is directly associated.
Take some antiallergic like cetirizine. Use some steroid nasal spray like fluticasone (prescription medicine). Take steam inhalation. Your problem should resolve.
