Question: Hello Doctor,

My child just turned 6 months and is now in her 7th month. Recently she has started developing prickly heat kind of small small swellings in her legs and chest areas. those are not in reddish though. and the area where there is such swellings the skin is becoming rough.

Currently we are giving her cerelac rice flavor 2 times a day and similac advance stage 2. Are these due to these foods?

Please advise.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking once again on HealthcareMagic.

I have gone carefully through your query and understand your concerns. It could be due to milia. I do not think that it is due to the mentioned foods. However, I would request you to upload image of the affected areas. It will help me to evaluate the condition. You could also apply some emollient like calamine lotion or some moisturizer like aloe vera lotion. You can also apply Candid (clotrimazole) powder topically.

I would await your response based on which I will guide you further. Let me know if I could help further.

Regards

Brief Answer:
These are milia. Not a cause for concern.

Detailed Answer:
These are milia. These are due to deposition of dead skin cells under the skin. These are normal in children of this age. Nothing needs to be done about it. However, you can apply candid (clotrimazole) powder topically.
