What Causes Worsening Symptoms Of Leg Cramps, Shooting Pain, Twitching And Spasms In The Legs Apart From Pins And Needles In The Feet?

Question: Symptoms I have had for years but have gotten worse in last 6 months are: leg cramps, shooting pains in legs, pins & needle feel in feet, twitching & spasms in random places. Saw a neurologist & had ct scan a little over a year ago; was told I had benign fasiculation syndrome. Could there be another diagnosis? It’s gotten very uncomfortable. The symptoms are worse in morning but continue through day.
Brief Answer:
Spinal conditions to consider also.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Besides benign fasciculations syndrome, I think, spinal cord conditions should be considered also. Conditions such as spinal stenosis, spondylolisthesis (slipped vertebrae), etc., may cause such symptoms.
Since the CT scan didn't show any of these conditions one year ago, worsening of the symptoms warrants new examinations such as dynamic x-rays and MRI of your lumbosacral spine, and nerve conduction study of your legs.
This way there can be achieved a correct diagnosis. Please discuss with your Doctor about these issues.
Hope you found the answer helpful. Let me know if I can assist you further.
