Posted on Mon, 23 Jun 2014
Question: A couple of months ago i asked a question about wrist pain. The pain is on the pinky side of my wrist. I'm not able to turn a door knob or pick up anything other than a few pieces of paper. When it initial started I wore a brace for about 3 weeks. It .seemed to work but yesterday I started to pick up a basket of laundry and I experienced severe pain in my wrist again. It seems to be much worse this time. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Why do you think it has reaccured with vengence.

Brief Answer:
Go for MRI to make the diagnosis.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for your query.

From description it seems to be Stenosing tenosynovitis(inflammation of tendon and synovium), or degenerative lesions of the TFCC (triangular fibrocartilage tear). TFCC is a shock absorbing structure in the wrist.

Initial treatment involves relative rest with a short arm splint or cast and anti-inflammatory medications. As you had already done these and symptoms do not respond to conservative measures, I suggest you go for MRI to make the diagnosis.

I do hope that you have found something helpful and I will be glad to answer any further query.

Take care
