Brief Answer:
depends on the stage, prognosis may not be too bad

Detailed Answer:
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

It is understandable to be concerned but it is quite possible that the prognosis is not a grim as you believe.

With a history of long term alcohol use, swelling of the feet and yellow eyes (jaundice), it is possible that the liver is not working as it should.

But if the liver disease is in the early to mid stages , eliminating all alcohol use, if this is still an issue and maintaining a healthy lifestyle would help slow down or prevent progression of damage.

You should consider blood tests (liver function tests, protein levels and a complete blood count) as well as an imaging test (such as an abdominal ultrasound) to take a look at the liver.

Proteins levels can sometimes decrease with some liver conditions

As said earlier, if there are liver problems and these issues are in the early to mid stage, then your prognosis would improve with discontinuation of alcohol if this is still a problem for you

The only way to know for sure would be to be assessed by your doctor

I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
