Brief Answer:
Looks like a viral diarrhea - Suggestions given

Detailed Answer:
Hi...Thank you for consulting in Health Care magic.

It seems your kid is having viral diarrhoea. Once it starts it will take 5-7 days to completely get better.

Unless the kid's having low urine output or very dull or excessively sleepy or blood in motion or green bilious vomiting...you need not worry.

There is no need to use antibiotics unless there is blood in the motion. Antibiotics might worsen if unnecessarily used causing antibiotic associated diarrhoea.

Vizilac which you are using is a probiotic, please continue it. There is no harm in giving it.

I suggest you use zinc supplements (Z&D drops 1ml once daily for 14 days) & ORS (Each small packet mixed in 200ml of potable water and keep giving sip by sip) as hydration is very important and crucial part of treatment. If there is vomiting you can use Syrup Ondansetron (as prescribed by your paediatrician).

Regarding diet - Avoid fruit juices as they might aggravate diarrhea. But, you can give whole fruit as such. You can give zinc supplements & ORS apart from normal vegetarian porridges & soups.

Hope my answer was helpful for you. I am happy to help any time. Further clarifications and consultations on Health care magic are welcome. If you do not have any clarifications, you can close the discussion and rate the answer. Wish your kid good health.

Hi doctor, yesterday we gave her vizilac and in dinner she didn't eat much. We had to travel at 4am and daughter got also awake. She had chips in morning and then she slept for 2 hours and then she had some snacks. She was fine all the way from 8am to 1pm during train journey I. e. Active and playing.

She slept at 1pm and then got woken up at 2:30 with uneasiness and then vomited and all the snacks came out.

After some time we tried giving her some food but she refused and again vomited this time liquid only. Finally she said she want to have curd and after having curd she again vomitted curd.

Please advice what medicine and food precautions we need to take. We are currently in transit and again would be travelling tomorrow morning

Brief Answer:
Nothing like a course - stop if there's no vomiting

Detailed Answer:
Hi.... nothing like a course. It's only symptomatic treatment. You can stop it once symptoms abate. Give it only if she's vomiting.
