What Could Be Causing Burning Sensation And Pain In The Legs At Night?

Question: what could be causing my to have burning and pain in my legs at night? I have had tests done for PAD and that is not the problem. I am a diabetic (controlled last A1c 6.5) take Lisinopril 40mg, Levothyroxine 75mcg, Lipitor 10mg, Vit D3 5000 IU daily, Novalog and Levemir on a sliding scale. I also take Furosomide 20mg as needed for fluid retention. I urinate alot during the day/night because I drink at least 64oz water with lemon juice during the day. I have been following a low carb (50 carbs daily) diet for a year now losing weight. I was walking 3 miles 5x a week and doing XXXXXXX Aerobics 2x a week until about 3 mths ago when this pain began and my Thyroid went out of wack. My heart doctor started running tests for PAD and all he found was 2 places in my veins with venous insuffieciency and he prescribed Compression hose for me to wear. I usually wear them 3x a week. PAD test on arteries did not show any problems. Off and on I have taken Potassium 300 mg but not on a regular basic. I have also take a Women's +50 Multivitamin and took for a short period of time Tumeric Curcumin 500mg until 2 days ago I stopped. Can you please help me figure out what is going on with my legs.

Brief Answer:
Get examined and evaluated for restless leg syndrome

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

Pain and cramps in the leg, especially at night, can be due to vitamin deficiency or restless leg syndrome.

Burning sensation in diabetes can be due to peripheral neuropathy. You should get yourself examined by a neurologist and get it investigated. Nerve conduction study and blood test as mentioned below are required. You will also need iron profile tests done too.

Take and continue calcium and vitamin supplements. Pramipexole can be tried for restless leg syndrome. It is a prescription medication which can be obtained from a neurologist.

Hope you found the answer helpful.
