What Could Be Causing The Persistent Reddish Rash And Itch On My Lower Left Leg?

default

Question: Hello Doctor,
I have a rash on my lower left leg that is reddish. It is rather itchy. I noticed the itch a couple of weeks earlier but did not expect it to be persistent. I have used moisturisers and aloe vera but it does not seem to be helping. The itch and unease has reduced considerably after using moisturizers but the skin is still red.

Brief Answer:
Add a topical steroid cream

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

I suggest you to continue with the moisturizer. I also suggest you to apply a topical steroid cream e.g., either triamcinolone acetonide 0.1 %cream or Betamethasone valerate 0.1% cream (Betnovate) twice daily. In addition I suggest you to take an oral antihistamine e.g., Cetirizine 10mg once daily in evening.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards
