Question: What could be possible causes of thickenning wall bladdering? I did the CT scan and nursing said i have thickening wall bladdering but the doctor aren't sure why, I am going to my appointment today. I looked up in google and all it says it is a sign of cancer? Does that mean i have cancer or there is something else it could be? like what?

Brief Answer:
I recommend doing a cystoscopy.

Good day thank you for being with 'Ask A Doctor' service...

I would like to know why you did the CT scan in the first place.

Bladder wall thickening is a nonspecific finding and could be nothing at all. The best way to check on this is to do a cystoscopy to assess the area for any suspicious mass or tumor.

A bladder mass is rare that's why I wouldn't worry much about it. Although I would still go to a urologist and possibly he will recommend the cystoscopy.

Cystoscopy can be done as an office procedure to be able to look inside the bladder and possibly get samples if there is an area of suspicion.

Let me know if I can assist you further.

Sorry for not being specific. I did my CT scan because i had calcium oxalate in my urinalysis to check for kidney stones or appendicitis due to my lower back pain. No blood was identified and neither no issue at my blood exam, everything seemed under control. I dont feel any pain urinating. My GP got back to me and we are treating as a bladder infection, i assume if it was anything more serious with me would have been detected in my CT scan, correct? Although radiologist put in his report "questionable circumferential thickening of the urinary bladder versus artifact. Correlate with urinalysis to exclude cystitis." I probably misinterpreted the word questionable, i believe i am fine, just can't help with my paranoid.

Brief Answer:
Please do a low oxalate diet.

Detailed Answer:
like i said it could be nothing at all. if your urinalysis showed some infection then that's probably what caused the thickening in the bladder in the form of a cystitis.

i suggest doing an ultrasound in 2 to 3 months just to see if there is new development in the bladder. also try to research on low oxalate diet to prevent calcium oxalate stones from forming on your urinary tract.
