What Could Be The Reason For Continued Cold Symptoms, Sweats, And Shortness Of Breath Despite Treating Influenza?
Question: Dr.,
In November of last year, I contracted the actual influenza and though I improved, I have had continual cold symptoms. I am looking at viral syndrome....I have clear mucus from cough, blowing nose, etc., but I notice that any exertion causes sweats and shortness of breath. No fever. Just occaisional chills, fatigue AND sweats along with cold symptoms. Could I just have a continuous viras?

Brief Answer:
Please do a chest X-Ray at first
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I can understand your concern and I am sorry for your husband, hope he gets well soon.
As you explain the history, sometimes in patients with comorbidities and in a situation of fatigue, it might be that the flu lasts for a relatively longer duration.
Nevertheless, if you were my patient I would recommend you to do at least a chest X-Ray. It would be better for you to evaluate the lungs. I hope you've had some cardiac check-up already (if not please get it done alongside). If it comes negative than nothing to worry about and all you need a good rest.
Hope to have been helpful for you.
Regards and feel free to ask me again
