What Could Be Weird Small But Smooth Bump Behind ?

default
Posted on Mon, 6 Jan 2025
Question: I have a weird small but smooth bump behind my left ear. I don't have a fever as far as I know and I haven't had any ear infections. It's only on my left side. Please help. I do have a small rash as well but that's because it was itchy in the past days and I scratched it, I assume it's because i wore large headphones that aren't the best quality.

Brief Answer:
It can be an acne.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

I see the photo you attached and it seem to be an acne. It can be formed if one of the pores of the skin behind ear are closed and filled with sebum.
Also the itching may be caused because of the irrigation or inflammation.
I believe it will resolve on its own without treatment.

Hope I have answered the question.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
Thanks.

Hi,
Thank you for your response.
I am not as concerned about the red itchiness its just, its not as visible on a picture but its a hard lump thats pretty small with no pain. I was scared it might be mastoiditis but I dont have any ear infection at the moment. I dont know if it has a connection but I also have groin pain on the same side, but this is normal for me since its caused by PMS, so i dont think its a connection. Ill see if I can attach another picture. Might it be from headphones? Its weird since its an actual slightly larger than a pea sized hard bump.

Brief Answer:
Can't be mastoiditis.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear and thank you for asking again.
It can't be mastoiditis since you don't have ear infection, pain or fever.
Also it can be related to using large ear phones because they may have caused irrigation.
The bump can be an acne. I think it will resolve on its own.

Thank you, and there's no way it might be cancerous either? I just find it weird but thank you once again for your response!

Okay and might itching be related to it? Ive been having itching for weeks now and this bump lead me to read horrible stories online about lymphoma, its scary but i think its due to anxiety once again.
Thank you.

Brief Answer:
Not much related to lymphoma.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear and thank you for asking again.
I think that it doesn't seem related to lymphoma.
Possibly you had an irritation from the headphones and you scratched it which may have caused the bump.
I don't think this is something serious.
