Question: Bug bites. Chiggers or scabies? Cleaning out an old garage; chiggers common in area. Have taken common precautions, but bites still spreading over torso, armpits, groin area, some down the arms. Had scabies many years ago, worried it is not just chiggers.

Hi,

The bite of chiggers larvae can be evident and can easily be picked. They do not burrow skin unlike scabies.
The itching is heavy in scabies when compared to chiggers.
Chiggers are commonly seen on the hands, legs and exposed areas unlike scabies which are in moist area.
I suggest to upload pictures of both old and new area that itches.
It is this time of season chiggers are common to infest.
