Question: Hi, I have been dealing with shoulder pain for about 6 months. I have been to see an orthopedic surgeon, he did some tests and I tested positive for labral discomfort. He gave me a cortisone shot and sent me to pt. he also ordered an mri. The mri came back pretty clean slight tendonitits and a little bursitis. I have been going to or for about 6 weeks and still have gotten no relief. Should I continue pt or ask the dr to scope the shoulder possibly

Brief Answer:
Physiotherapy will bring improvement.

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

Tendonitis and bursitis are inflammation processes that take weeks to subside. Since your MRI has not revealed any tear or degenerative change, an arthroscopy is not likely to help you much. It is best to continue with the physiotherapy. It is the only thing that will help you in the long term and will prevent any recurrence of inflammation. This can take 8-10 weeks to heal. Avoid all the painful movements. Doing a hot compress will also help. You can get some oral muscle relaxants prescribed from your orthopedist for a symptomatic relief.

I hope this answers your query. In case you have additional questions or doubts, you can forward them to me, and I shall be glad to help you out. Wishing you good health.
Regards,
