Brief Answer:
We need to exclude temporal arteritis
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
We need to exclude a diagnosis of temporal arteritis, in which there is inflammation (swelling) of temporal artery (located in the temple region). ESR (a blood test) is elevated in this condition. Arterial doppler of the temporal artery can also help in the diagnosis.
However, if the ESR is normal, his headache could also be related to post-infectious syndrome. Following a viral fever, many people may complain of headaches.
I hope my answer helps. Please get back if you have any follow up queries or if you require any additional information.
Wishing you good health,
