What Could Cause Metallic Smell, Absurd Taste And A Warm Tingling Sensation All Over That Leads To An Episode Of Brain Fog?

Question: I have been having these symptoms for about 2 years . . . I can go months without any symptoms and then I can have 6-8 episodes in a day. I start smelling this metally smell and get a weird taste in my mouth in parallel with a warm, tingling sensation washes over me. Have to stop whatever I am doing until it passes. I have never lost conscientiousness or thrown up. I had an MRI about a year ago and it was clear. Could it be sinuses?

Hello,

As per your symptoms, the possibility of a seizure activity should be ruled out.

Seizures are of multiple varieties and need not always throw up.

MRI brain can still be normal in presence of a seizure activity.

In order to confirm the diagnosis, it's advisable to get an EEG -Scalp video recording (Electroencephalography) during such an episode to identify the seizure activity in-live.

Further management if any is largely based on the test reports.

But I never know when they are going to occur. I can go days or weeks without one but it seems when I get one I will get many and then they will just stop. I have been known to get them while I am sleeping. It will wake me up.
