What Could Cause Recurrent Bruises On The Legs And Thighs?

default
Posted on Fri, 25 Jan 2019
Question: I keep getting bruises on my legs & thighs they are big with purple dots in the middle I’ve gone to 4 doctors & none tell me what’s wrong they just take blood test that come back normal so they don’t help me after that. The bruises go and come back over night. They are very big and some are painful some aren’t. They start off being purple/green then change to a red/brown color. I have all lab results of my red blood cells being low with small stones in my gallbladder

Brief Answer:
Symptoms are related to a blood disorder, examination need to be done.

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

Your symptoms can be related to many causes:
- A blood disorder
- Medicine for blood thinning like aspirin
- Microtrauma
- Blood vessel problem
- Liver problems

Red blood cells are low due to the hemorrhage. To rule out the cause you should do:
- A complete blood count
- Level of platelets
- Level of fibrinogen
- Coagulation test(INR)
- Liver enzymes
After this examinations we can rule out the cause of the bruises.

Meanwhile some advice that I can give are:
- Elevate the area of the bruise
- Use ice compresses
- You can use vitamin K cream for local treatment
- Take oral vitamin C
- In case of pain you can use painkillers like Ibuprofen.

Hope my answer was helpful.
