Brief Answer:
Could be due to fever and mild swelling in the joints.

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

You feel there is a bony rubbing sound when the child moves her ankle. In my opinion it is quite possible for the sound since whenever there is fever, there could be mild swelling in the joint (called reactive synovitis) which may sometimes cause this feeling of bony sound.

I would suggest that unless there is local swelling, redness or severe pain, do not do anything at present. Just continue with fever treatment. If you feel same sound is coming 3-4 weeks later even after fever has subsided then she needs orthopedic check up.

Thanks for the question. Please feel free to ask any other question.

Regards
