Question: what might cause a few drops of blood in the diaper in a one year old female baby? No fever or other signs of sickness, Baby cries when wiped off , stops crying after diapering. Bleeding only one time, yesterday. Happy baby, reliable daycare, no fear of people. Any ideas?

Brief Answer:
Infective diarrhea or diaper rash

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

It could be a mild infective diarrhea and as the baby is cheerful - you can leave it as such.

However, if she develops loose stools and vomiting, she might require antibiotic therapy.

The other possibility is a diaper rash. Apply topical emollients and it will get better.

Hope I have answered your query.

Thank you.
