What Could Cause Spotting For Over A Week?
Question: Hi I am still very worried about spotting for 8 days. It is only noticable when using a tampon. It has gone from brown to red and keeps changing. I feel sick with worry that it is a sign of cervical cancer. My period was due on the 12th July. Can you please help before I go insane with worry. Thank you so much
Brief Answer:
Internal examination and smear examination
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
The Periods can be scanty due to hormonal disturbance.
However, other causes of prolonged spotting can be due to cervical erosion, premalignant or malignant condition.
For this , you need to consult an OBGYN specialist and get a proper internal examination along with Liquid based cytology or pap smear of the cervix to rule out any such condition.
Hope you found the answer helpful.
