Brief Answer:
Oxycodone is not time released

Detailed Answer:
Hello and Welcome

I appreciate your concern

The form which is time released , is Oxycontin and the one which is immediate release is oxycodone. Bothe are the same drug. The only difference being the instant release of oxycodone verses the time release of oxycontin. Morphine or sevredol are good alternatives for breakthrough pain. Opioid receptors, in fact undergoes desensitization when opioids are used for long. Thus, requiring an increase in dose. Pregabalin or gabapentin can be added after maximizing dose of the first drug within therapeutic levels to adequately control the pain. You may discuss these options with your doctor. Please consult a neurologist in this regard.

Wishing you best of health
