Posted on Tue, 14 Feb 2017
Question: I have alternating constipation and diarrhea. I urinate every two hours. I have fibromyalgia with multiple areas of pain--especially the spine and headaches. I am 67, female, overweight, when I have to go, I really have to go, I also have chronic debiliting fatigue. Other than that I' fairly healthy for my age. I taught sicience fr 10 years and taught handicapped adults. I am a chemistry and biology teacher. Who retired early because of poor health. O, I have an 8 cm. long cyst in my right kidney. My uterus was removed 30 years ago. MY sons are 45 and 46. I've been married 49 years. I earned associate, bachelors, and masters degrees despite my fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue. I loved teaching handicapped adults. They needed me. . . . .So I needed them. But I'm just so darn tired!

Brief Answer:
Supportive care

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for asking

I have went through your queries and i can understand your concerns. FIbromyalgia is very debilitating and fatiguing condition and i am inspired from you achieving that much despite this much illness. Constipation and diarrhea alternating with each other are due to declined in bowel functions both due to age as well as manifestation of fibromyalgia. Adapting diet and lifestyle changes will help, small frequent meals, avoiding dairy products, spices, processed canned foods, beverages, soda, alcohol, tea coffee etc. Use more fiber and fluids, take yogurt and peppermint, drink adequate fluids from 8 to 12 glasses of water a day.

To combat fibromyalgia, you need adequate rest, sound sleep, don't stress, pace yourself for good even level, if you do too much on your good days you will have more bad days. Sign up to a yoga class, have soem group therapies, find others like you with fibromyalgia, take some low doses of cymbalta along with some nerve pain killers like gabapentin etc. Kidney cysts, uterus removal have no role in these current symptoms which mostly needs supportive care.

I hope it helps. Take good care of yourself and dont forget to close the discussion please.

Khan
