Question: I have a Normal Skin. I have started noticing black spots of a dot's size on my cheek bone (below the eyes) on both the cheeks. On right cheek the spot is bit bigger. I have been using Jove's Anti-pigmentation face cream and Himalaya Peel off face pack (apple & cuccumber) to reduce the same. The spot has lighten but does not go off completely. Can you please suggest what to do ? BTW I had also tried papaya pack for a month it also only reduced the color of the spot.

Hello and welcome to healthcaremagic
I am Dr. Kakkar. I have gone through your query.
I would keep a few possibilities. They could be either 'Freckles', which are brown to XXXXXXX flat macules on sun exposed skin(face, neck etc) of fair individuals OR 'Melasma' (which are confluent black patches rather than small spots, on the malar eminences, nose and sometimes on the upper lip as well) and a third possibility of 'Dermatosis papulosa Nigra(DPNs)', which are pin-head sized spots/growths, slightly raised above the skin surface, unlike freckles and melasma.
Sun protection is an essential part of management of any pigmentation problem over face, whether it is freckles, melasma or DPNs. I would suggest that you use a broad spectrum sunscreen(that which offers both UV A and UV B protection) throughout the day.
However, I would like to gather some more information from you in order to be able to help you further on your concern once i get clarity on the following points.
-Are the spots raised above the skin surface Or are they flat/level with the skin?
-Can you upload a picture which is representative of the spots?
regards
