What Do Blisters On The Penis Shaft Indicate?

default
Posted on Sat, 31 May 2014
Question: Hi Doctor,
I have blisters on the shaft of my penis. I have not had sex till date so the possibility of any STD is not there. I had a fungal outburst in my genital areas sometimes back and I have had these blisters since then. I masturbate often, so can that be one reason of these blisters?

Brief Answer:
Please provide more details and pictures

Detailed Answer:
Hi

I understand your concern regarding your skin problem and I hope I am able to help you in the same .
I have seen the attached pictures . You do have a mild fungal infection.
I would like to know certain more details from you regarding the skin problem .
Since when have you developed these lesions?
Are they continously increasing in size and number?
Is there any associated pain or itching?
Have you been applying any medicines over them?
Have you indulged into any kind of sexual contact or even oral sex? I am asking this since I suspect a std in your case.
It would be helpful if you can click some more close up pictures of the skin condition and upload them here on this page . I would like to have a closer look for confirmation of the diagnosis .

Thanks doc, for the quick response.

I am having these lesions for around 2 years now. They were minor ones and never troubled me. And I have fungal infections around my genitals which keeps poping up when ever I go for treks and any other outdoor activities.

Now they have increased in number. There is no pain or itching.

I have never taken medicines for them, but I do use anti-fungal powder around my genitals.

I have not had any any kind of sexual contact till date, not even oral. But I do masturbate and generally rough. Are there any other means to get these STDs?

I have attached more pictures of the infection. Let me know in case you need anything else.

Thanks.

Brief Answer:
Viral warts, treat them at earliest

Detailed Answer:
HI again

I have seen the attached pictures .
From the pictures, I can surely say that you have developed viral warts which is actually a std.
Now since you have never had any sexual contact , then the next possible mode of transmission can probably be any kind of contact in the form of touching an infected person or contact with the clothes, sheet or towel of an infected person. I hope you do not have any lesions over your hands as well.
Viral warts are very slow growing lesions and take months to years to multiply in number. Also they age typically painless , so there is no doubt regarding the diagnosis in your case.
Now the most important thing is to get them treated as soon as possible since these lesions keep on increasing without treatment .
You should see a nearby dermatologist soon for proper treatment of the warts.
I am afraid no home treatment will help you.

Thanks doc for the detailed diagnosis.
I have never had lesions over any other body part not even hands.
I don't even remember using other persons clothes. But I swim a lot and do that anywhere it is possible. So can that be a possible source of this infection?
Is this curable?

Looking forward to your response.

Thanks

Brief Answer:
Treat genital warts as soon as possible

Detailed Answer:
Hi again

Since the infection has spread a lot already in your case and you have it since more than a year now, so my advise would be to go ahead and get proper treatment for the same as soon as possible .
Home treatment and other topical drugs might not help you since the warts have already spread a lot.
There are various ways of treating genital warts. In most centres, chemical cauterisation is the preferred method which your treating dermatologist can guide you. But the most important thing is to get them treated soon.
