What Do Bumps On Inner Thigh Area Indicate?

default
Posted on Wed, 22 Oct 2014
Question: I have 4-5 tiny white flesh looking bumps on my inner thigh in the area I would call the "friction area". Where my scrotum and thighs rub. There are none outside that area. There is no dimple in them so I am ruling out Molluscum Contagiosum. What do you think these could be? Warts? I am worried they are warts...I wanted to add...could it be the "plug" in the hair follicle that comes out when the hair is pulled from the rubbing/friction? These are only in the area where the rubbing/friction occurs between my thigh and scrotum. None of these bumps are outside this area.

Brief Answer:
Follicles

Detailed Answer:
HI.
Thanks for the great observation, nice pictures and your understanding.

Yes these are hyperactive hair follicles due to rubbing, ( the "plug" in the hair follicle that comes out when the hair is pulled from the rubbing/friction as you have rightly noticed); hence not a disease at all.
These are not Moslluscum Contagiosum.

With the pictures you have provided, there is no evidence of infection, So no treatment is needed.

So what your saying so I can understand this...When the hairs are pulled out from the friction/rubbing between my thigh and scrotum the "plug" also comes out leaving the white fleshy looking bump?

As you can see in the pictures attached I pulled on some hairs surrounding the area in question and with those hairs attached still at the base are white looking bumps that comes out of the skin, are you calling that the "plug"? Also, are the white bumps the "plugs" that have came out with no hairs attached?

These don't look like warts correct?

Are the white fleshy bumps "plugs" that are missing the hair because the hair has been pulled out by the rubbing/friction?

Brief Answer:
Very good observation

Detailed Answer:
Yes, you are absolutely right.
There must a sub-clinical inflammation and the hair fall off, leaving the hair follicle appearing a bit raised white bumps- the ''plugs'' you have described as.
The hair must have already fallen away, may be because of friction causing a sub-clinical inflammation.

These are not warts.

Awesome, that's great news. I was hoping they weren't warts.

They only appear where the rubbing occurs and not outside that area. I figured it had to do with the hair being pulled out that left the white bump because they look the same as ones that the hairs are attached to when I pull them out.

Thanks for all your help! I'm so pleased to hear this...
