Brief Answer:
GERD more likely, tonsillitis is other possibility

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome
I have gone through your query and do understand your concern.
There are two possibilities that need to be evaluated and addressed. I'll mention them kindly discuss this with your local doctor.

One is GERD. For this I would suggest you to Avoid spicy food, Alcohol, and smoking if you do. Eat food rich in fibres. Do not lie down immediately after eating food. Do not starve, eat small frequent meals. keep headend raised while sleeping.
I would recommend you to take acid reducing agent like ranitidine 150 mg twice daily half an hour before food for a week. This should be sufficient.

Second being tonsillitis, it need to be examined to confirm the diagnosis. For this I would suggest you to drink plenty of water, salt water gargling two to three times a day and need of antibiotic can be decided based on the examination. But I feel it is less likely as you do not have fever, which is usually associated with it.

Hope this information helps.
If you have further queries I'll be glad to address it.
Take care
