What Do Elevated Bikirubin, AST And ALT Levels Mean?

Question: Just had lab work, my biliruben was 2.4. My ALT is 176 and my AST is 154. Please comment
Brief Answer:
Complete liver panel report please
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Your bilirubin is high and AST and ALT are significantly elevated. Certain viral infections, certain metabolic diseases, autoimmune diseases, certain liver toxic medications can cause this picture.
Kindly upload the complete liver panel report that includes alkaline phosphatase and total protein and albumin.
1. Is ultrasound scan of the abdomen done?
2. Viral hepatitis / autoimmune hepatitis tests done?
3. Are you a diabetic?
4. Are you on any medications?

Dr.R.K

I can provide the liver panel, but I also had a CT scan of the abdomen and pelvis area. I had pancreatic cancer surgery, where they removed my pancreas, stomach and spleen. What concerns me is the CT scan shows retained stool in the colon. Diffuse mesenteric congestion and stranding.please advise
Brief Answer:
Need more information
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
How are your bowel movements? Are you constipated.
Diffuse congestion and stranding of mesentery may indicate inflammation.
Edema can also occur when the albumin level is low and if there is clotting in the blood vessel there. Kindly upload the complete report of CT scan. Also upload the liver panel

Dr.R.K.

Hi, I have provided some attachments. Please review them.
Brief Answer:
Answer given below
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I went through the CT report.
I will not worry about the retained stool in the colon unless there is a growth lower down obstructing the passage of stool. You can take high fiber diet/fiber supplements to clear the bowel if your bowel movements are not good.
As far as the mesenteric congestion and stranding is concerned, the most likely cause is inflammation. Do you have abdominal pain?
Also please upload the liver panel.
Regards,
Dr.R.K
