
What Do Elevated Bilirubin Levels While Suffering From Jaundice Indicate?

Question: Sir My father age is 42 and he is suffering from jaundice since last 20 days. His bilirubin level was 15 mg/dl 20 days ago and now it has been increased to 20 mg/dl. His sgot and sgpt were very high were it has come done to almost to normal level. My concern is about his increasing bilirubin level. Please suggest my whether this increase is normal or is there any thing serious with this increasing bilirubin level and he has diagnosed hepatitis b positive. Kindly give you valuable suggestions .

But in presence of normal / decreasing levels of SGPT and SGOT while on treatment for Hep B , you need not worry much.
