What Do Enlarged Taste Buds On Tongue Indicate?

Question: I have what appears to be enlarged taste buds on the back of my tongue, i recently had surgery could this be a symptom of the meds i have been taking or another issues?

hello dear, welcome to HCM forum.

There is nothing to worry in this.

Few taste buds towards the back of our tongue are enlarged normally. These are called "circumvallate papillae" , and are arranged in a V- shaped line on the posterior part of our tongue.
The only thing is that we will not notice this unless do a close watch with tongue protruding out.
