Brief Answer:
Could be benign
fasciculation syndrome.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thank you for posting your query.
First of all, I would like to reassure you that there is no need to worry about your symptoms of fasciculations in the calf muscles, as nerve conduction studies (done twice) are normal.
I am sure EMG (
electromyography) was also done along with nerve conduction studies to rule out ALS (
amyotrophic lateral sclerosis).
You have already excluded other brain and spine diseases, including MS, by doing MRI of brain and spine, which were normal.
In this scenario, the most probable diagnosis in your case is
benign fasciculation syndrome (BFS). BFS, as the name suggests, is not a serious condition, and improves on own over a period of time.
In my opinion, you should not start steroids, until an
autoimmune disease is confirmed, as steroids may be associated with side effects.
I hope my reply has helped you.
I would be pleased to answer, if you have any follow up queries or if you require any further information.
Best wishes,
