What Do Fever, Throat-ache, Joint Pain And Loss Of Appetite Indicate?
Possible causes and advises on body pains and acid reflux given
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thank you for asking at healthcaremagic.
I carefully read your question and understand your concern.
Pains in multiple joints in elderly happen from several causes but mostly due to ostheoarthritis, which causes pain but no redness and little or no swelling. It does not generally cause fever either. Have you checked you temperature that you consider having low grade fever? Ho much was it and for how long?
If you have redness of the joint area and they feel hot locally than other causes of pain should be considered and you will need to see the doctor on those as it seems inflammation causes of the joint pains and not just wear and tear of them due to overuse with time as it happens with ostheoarthritis.
Have you tried paracetamol (tylenol) for the pains? It might be a good idea to take one 500 mg tablet every 6 hours to help with it.
To conclude i would say:
1. if you have only the pains without swelling, redness or local heat and temperature is less than 37.5C than it is likely this is ostheoarthritis and paracetamol (tylenol) might help release some of it and sometimes your doctor might prescribe also tablets to help with the anxiety of pain for such a long time to help you feel better.
2. if you have swelling, local heat, temperature reaches 37.5 and above for a time period of weeks than you will need to be seem by a doctor and have tests done to find the cause as in this time inflammation is suspected and should be investigated what causes it.
3. if you feel fatigued or have weight loss this is another cause to see the doctor.
4. for the acid reflux causing you the throat pain please tr to not eat later than 3 hours before going to bed at night and try to take frequent small amount of food during the day and avoid big meals as this makes reflux worse. Avoid smoking and alcohol. Omeprazol 20 mg fasting in the morning might help reduce the acidity and release the symptoms.
I hope this is helpful and answers to your question but please feel free to reply to this message if any more clarification is needed on this.
Kind regards,
