What Do Frequent Urination And Chills Without Fever Indicate?

default
Posted on Wed, 29 Apr 2015
Question: For the last 2 weeks Ive been having frequent urination, chills with no fever and my blood pressure has gone up and I am having a jittery feeling alot. I normally have had normal blood pressure. I had a urinalysis that one Dr said had slight blood but that it was normal for menopause to have that. A nurse practicioner said I had low levels of bacteria so they put me on Macrobid. Ive been on it for 2 days and things dont feel any better. Do you have other ideas what could be going on? All of my bloodwork was normal.

Brief Answer:
Urinary tract infection

Detailed Answer:
Hello

Thanks for the query

Frequent micturation with chills and presence of RBC in urine points towards a urinary tract infection.
Here is what you should do

1. Continue to take Macrobid for 7 days
2. I strongly recommend you to get a urine culture done
3. Syp Di Sodium Hydrogen Citrate will prevent the burning and the frequent micturation
4. Repeat your urine routine after 7 days
5. High blood pressure could be related to menopause and not the urinary tract infection, if the blood pressure reading is above 140/90 on three separate settings then I recommend you to start an antihypertensive. Jittery feeling is also part of menopause and not the infection
