What Do Frequent Urination And Watery Vaginal Discharge Indicate?
Question: Hello there,
I am 28 years old, with two kids. lately, I have been pieing a lot and having a lot of watery vaginal discharge. its odorless , yet it is very unusual. Another thing very unusual for me is my periods, they have flactuated and it is anywhere between 1 to 2 weeks late. I had a post partum pubis seperation and week back, but I feel that is getting better and I am a lot stronger now. Any idea what could cause a lot of odorless watery/ mucus discharge and pieing non stop. I am not pregnant - so not sure what it could be. I have a bit of kidney pain, could be affilated with that? or could be UTI? Give me some clue please. Many thanks!

You have given very nice account of your symptoms. Let me analyse it and suggest few suggestions to you.
You are having kidney pain, suggesting urinary infection, crystaluria or stones. Urinary infection is known to cause frequent urination. Is the amount of the urine ample or every time you pass scanty urine? This makes difference. Please let me know.
Moreover, there is another possibility of having stone in the urinary system or passage of crystals of undisolved salts in the urine. Along with frequent urination, it gives a feeling of continuous urination. The amount of the urine every time may be scanty in such cases. Do you get such feeling? Do you get burning at the end of urination or do you have feeling of incomplete urination?
Such frequent urination with increased vaginal discharge suggesting bacterial vaginosis could be suggesting diabetes mellitus. Do you have any family history of Diabetes? Have you been ever investigated for diabetes? Diabetes type 2 is mostly due to tissue insulin insensitivity - the same pathology of Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS). May be the cause of your irregularity in the menstrual cycle. Please get yourself investigated for diabetes.
Have you got your urine tested recently? If not, please get your morning first sample of urine examined from the pathology laboratory. Depending upon the evidence of infections, culture and sensitivity test may be required. Also this examination may give some clue about diabetes. If you find any crystals in the urine examination, intravenous pyelography and/or ultrasonography will give show us any stone if present.
Considering all these points, may I suggest you the following investigations initially:
1. Routine Urine Examination
2. If infection seen, Culture and sensitivity of urine
3. If crystals noted, ultrasonography of Kidney, Ureter, Bladder
4. Blood sugar - Fasting and 2 hours after full meal

Hello there,
thank you so much for your prompt response. Yes I do experience scanty urine , I feel like I have to pie and there is a lot of urine and when I pie it is small amount/ just not enough. Now I dont experence this all the time, sometime it is a lot as well. However, I do not have any burning sensation. I do have a family history of diabetes. Infact, when I was pregnant the doctor got twice positive diabetes, which is preganancy diabetes, because once I gave birth there was no evidence of diabetes. because I got tested twice after birth. I mean I havent gotten tested lately, so I will do so again. its just if I hold my urine for too long I have a mild kidney pain, but I pie frequently more than or equal to a preganant women and my periods keeps falctuating for the past three month. It has never done that before.Also when I was pregnant I also had a positive UTI, but after birth everything was normal again. This is all about 8 month ago. so I will have everything tested again. if there is anything you can add based on the information I included - that hopefully clears up few things for you. Infections any where in the body is a common untoward feature of diabetes due to diminished immunity and favourable conditions for the infections. Amongst these infections, urinary infection is very common. Usually these urinary infections are recurrent and need close follow up, monitoring and repeated treatments. Please start the antibiotics, if needed for urinary infections ONLY after the culture and sensitivity test to avoid unnecessary repeated exposure to the unindicated antibiotics.
Pain at the kidney site after holding the urine for some time may indicate Intravenous Pyelography. However, that option I might suggest you after having your ultrasonography reports and images.

Hi there,
thank you so much for your prompt responses. My children were not overweight at birth? my daughter was 8 and a half pounds and my son was 7.8 lbs. I had no complication with my daughter, perfect pregnancy and birth. My son, though I had placenta previa when I was pregnant with him and I had blleedings throughout the pregnancy, about 3 month or so, also like I mentioned pregnancy diabeties and UTI. Which was all normal at the time of delivery. Also I gave birth using epideral, so later on I had a oubis seperation and a weak back, but that is also getting better. My concern are just the frequent pieing, mild kidney pain, falctuating periods and also if I havent mentioned before, I do tend to eat more and get hungry faster and another thing is I get thirsty more than usual now and lately - I feel nausated continously for three days now. So I will definately have everything you said checked and I will get back to you with the results.
