Question: sir i was under depression last 2 years and taking Daxid 50mg tablet half tab daily not regular but sometimes i feel restless feel like i have to rush the things then followed by pain in my chest and neck musceles heaviness in head and difficult in breathing dont feel confident in doing something feel like lack of energy my BP is ok pls advise

Hi dear,

Thank you for your query.

Based on what you described I think you have depression and anxiety both together.
Further I believe daxid 50 mg half dose is sub optimal dose and with that your symptoms is not totally eradicated. You need to take effective dose regularly for specific period of time.

In such cases I would treat with 50 mg of sertraline. And if still problem persist then gradually increasing dose up to 200 mg. Also other molecule like SNRI (venlaflexine, desvenlflexine, duloxetine etc. ), NASA (mirtazepine), Other SSRI (escitalopram, paroxetine, etc.. ) will help. Please discuss with your treating doctor. Do not start this drug without your doctor knowing it.

For depression and anxiety you need to take medicine for minimum 1 year regularly.

Dear sir

Thank you very much for immediate reply, right now I am not consulting any doctor.The doctor who prescribed me Daxid 50 mg no more practicing in my area or nearby where I can approach him neither I have approached any other doctor. I was continuing above medications

Shall I try initially 50mg dose of sertraline? Because regular use of Daxid 50 with half dose Gives good result. I have minimized lot of stress which I had in past by changing my lifestyle and what I believe I need some supporting drug which can help me recover fast please suggest if any other medicine to be taken with sertraline 50mg as I can read some other medicines in your email.

I believe your prescribed medicine are sufficient and will help me to recover fast as I understand need to change my lifestyle in order to come out from depression and anxiety

we can add other drug but first need to increase dose

Detailed Answer:
Hi dear,

First of all you need to take 50 mg of sertraline for week and if you feel better completely then no need to increase dose further but if you still have some symptoms then further increase the dose to 100 mg.

After 100 mg if you have not improvement then we can add other molecule like Mirtazepine 15mg or imipramine 25mg which helps you .

Or we can change it to SNRI group of medication like venlaflexine or desvenlaflexine.

But still i advise you to increase the dose of sertraline up to 100 mg as you have good response with it.

First consult any psychiatrist near by you for further management.
