Posted on Mon, 11 May 2015
Question: From past two months I am suffering from long periods, in previous august 2014 it started, heavy bleeding for 10 days , I consulted an gynic doc, she did all tests and gave medication ,I was fine after that for 6 months , and now again from two months I'm getting longer periods, in before month I took trapic for two days and my period stopped and again the next month my period date came correctly but again for 9 days..., so I started now again taking trapic, is it OK to take it like this, or what is the dose to take the tablet, I'm not bleeding that heavily also, just one pad a day after 5 days, is there any problem, before my doc tested me,scan, bllod test everything and told hormonal imbalance...pls help me to resolve it

Brief Answer:
You might be having polycystic ovarian disease.

Detailed Answer:
Welcome to Health care magic. Thank you for posting your query.
I can understand your concern.

I have gone through the entire post . WHat I could make out from the symptoms and the "hormonal imbalance" as stated by your doctor , it seems you could be having polycystic ovarian syndrome.
It would have been great had I examined you on my own.

I would suggest you to
- Avoid oily, spicy food
- Exercise regularly to avoid weight gain
- Get a pelvic ultrasound to rule out the cause
- I would start oral contraceptive tablets . Your doctor can guide on the exact dosage.

About the trapic tablet or tranexamic acid, it is 500 mg a tablet - one tablet to be taken during heavy bleeding. You can take upto 3 tablets a day, but the dose depends on the symptoms and amount of bleeding.

I would suggest you to visit a gynaecologist . He/she can examine and correlate clinically.

Hope this helps.
