What Do High Blood Sugar Levels Indicate?
![default](/r/images/default.png)
About your blood sugar;
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
The blood glucose level and HbA1c you reported are high and need to be treated but there is no emergency.
Why the blood glucose is increased now? Well, there may be many factors, probably your pancreas does not produce more enough insulin, or you may have put on weight during this time.
Corticosteroid therapy can also increase blood sugar.
Anyway, you have been monitoring it and this increase for some months does not cause chronic complications.
Of course, if it is well controlled now and in continuance.
Your physician will prescribe the appropriate treatment for you depending on your BMI, renal and liver function etc. Will be a pleasure to help you further.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

How could my numbers go up so dramically in 7 months? this is the question
I have not gained weight in these months. 225 in July and 224 March 1. I am 5'6 inches tall. I was at 245 lb 3 years ago and had good diabetes numbers then. I don't understand how this could happen so quickly without a cause. I did start eating crackers and a number of pies that I don't normally eat during the last 6 months. Also half and half cream. I know this is bad and I will stop eating them but it didn't cause my weight to increase. so why the high numbers? why would my pancreas not be working effectively?
thanks for your help

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
You have an evident cause that explains the rise of the blood sugar even though you didn't put on weight.
Corticosteroids can increase the blood sugar dramatically in a very short period, that is why you have to keep it in control while on treatment.
They may persist high for some weeks or months after you stop corticosteroids and need to be treated.
Hope I have answered your query.
Take care
