Question: Hi Doc, Please take a look at the attached report which I have got under general medical check up and let me know what are the issues if any and remedies that can be used to make things better. I can see MPV and PDW to be low with normal platelet count. Also, high count of Red and white blood cells can be seen along with borderline high cholesterol. What does this mean and how can i control them?

Brief Answer:

Your report is normal

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

Your report is mostly normal.

My suggestion is as follows:

Lipid profile: Only slightly deranged. For this variation, No medicines are needed. Only lifestyle changes are required so that it does not get worse.

Avoid fatty foods, take more of fruits and salad, exercise daily for atleast 30 min a day.

Raised leucocyte, lymphocyte, rbc count are also normal variations. Raised leucocyte and lymphocyte can mean a bacterial infection.

If there is no such infection, then it can be ignored. If there is any infection then further tests can be done to confirm it.

You can take your antiseptic precaution like frequent washing of hands, drinking clean water, hygienic food, and clean air.

Otherwise, there is nothing to worry about.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Brief Answer:

Its not worrisome

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

An increase in PDW is abnormal and worrisome. It happens in many conditions like inflammation and coronary thrombi.

When platelet count is normal, low PDW and MPV are of no clinical significance. It's not to be worried about.

Hope I have answered your query.

Take care
