Question: Hi,
So I am 23, 5'1 in height and weigh 190 and have no period during the year and don't know why. When I hit puberty at age 10 I was very regular but then I hit 14 and it became very infrequent. I starting going months without my period and asked my mom if this was normal. My mom told me that stress and my weight could affect my period and if I didn't get it in the next month that I would go to the doctor. So the next month I didn't get it and went to the doctor. At this point it had been about a year with no period. My doctor at the time sent me to an OBGYN and a blood test was done to check my thyroid and my hormone levels which everything came back normal. The OBGYN decided the best thing to do was to put me on birth control to regulate my periods. I had a terrible memory and at the time thought because I wasn't planning on being sexual active that I wasn't going to take the pill. Fast forward to when I was 19 and I became sexual active I went to my nurse practitioner and told her I wanted to get on the pill and told her about my history with my period. My nurse practitioner thought it may be PCOS and did more blood work. At this time she said my LH and FSH were a little high but everything else was normal and she also did an ultrasound to look for cysts but everything looked normal. She again like I was told at 15 that I would be regulated by the pill. Again I have a terrible memory even with the reminders I set for myself. Now I am 23 and am having more issues. I don't have a regular period, I have crazy facial hair that was not there 6 months ago, I have been trying to lose weight but to no avail. I just don't know what to do anymore. All signs have been pointing to PCOS but when looked at it says it's not. Do you have any ideas of what is going on? I am going to go see my family doctor as soon as I can get time off work.

Brief Answer:
Need to take pills

Detailed Answer:
Hello mam, thanks for trusting health care magic.
See PCOD is an endocrinological disorder which is more of a clinical diagnosis rather than via investigations.
So as per your description it seems like PCOD only plus the slow onset of delayed periods and then total cessation of periods and your overweight look points towards PCOD only.
So in my opinion you need oral pills with cyprohepterone and ethinylestradiol si as to control PCOD as well as give you contraception too.
In addition to that you need to reduce weight, as you must have been told many times.
Weight reduction will have great positive effect on periods and hair growth too so all in all will control all PCOD symptoms.
I have done a lot of research on PCOD so in case you have any questions about it, please feel free to ask.
