What Do Itchy Red Spots On The Body Indicate?

default
Posted on Fri, 13 Jan 2017
Question: Hi I had a recent stay in a hotel and woke up the first morning with these red marks on my body. Some were in kinda a straight row. Some had little red pinpoint dots in them. By day #2 they were very itchy and became inflamed. Can you identify these marks as to what this is? It is bed bug bites?

Brief Answer:
Insect bite hypersensitivity reaction, topical steroid & antihistaminic

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for being at healthcaremagic
I have reviewed the attached photographs and it is looking like insect bite hypersensitivity reaction.
It could be due to bed bugs.
In such cases I recommend my patients to apply a topical steroid like clobetasol propionate cream on the affected areas twice daily and take antihistaminic like tablet Cetrizine 10 mg once or twice daily depending on the intensity of itching for 7-10 days.
Steroidal preparations are prescription drugs and you need to see the doctor in person to get them.
