Many more clinical trials are required to validate it's health benefits

Detailed Answer:
Hi....
Welcome to "Ask a Doctor" service.
I am Dr Ajeet XXXXXXX

I have gone through your query and here is my opinion.

Kratom is a tree from the coffee family usually found in south east Asian countries.
The herbal extract obtained from it's leaves is being used and abused by many as a stimulant and a sedative agent though there is no clinical evidence or data available to validate it's health benefits.
It is still not FDA approved for clinical use.
It’s been reported for treating chronic and severe pain, digestive ailments and to treat withdrawal from opium dependence.

The main active ingredients of kratom are the alkaloids mitragynine and 7-hydroxymitragynine which act on the opioid receptors of the body, thus producing the stimulant, pain reliving and anti inflammatory effect.

As per my opinion, there are a lot of things about it which are still unknown and require further clinical trials.
These includes effective dose, maximum permissible dose, therapeutic window of safety, drug interactions, absolute and relative contraindications, degree of addiction liability and possible harmful effects including death.
These are the things that one should weigh before taking any drug including Kratom.

Hope that I have answered your query.

Stay healthy and stay blessed.
Regards.
