What Do My ALT And SGPT Levels Indicate?
Question: My ALT SGPT results this week (May 7, 2017): 40 (0-32 REFERENCE RANGE)
in 2016 it was 20
in 2015 it was 20
Can krill oil and too many nuts cause the results to double? I've been eating a LOT of nuts for two months and I have been taking the same krill oil for a few years. Sometimes my palms and fingers are yellow, not the outer part. When I spread my hands the yellow becomes sort of red or normal color. it has been this way for a long time.
I am 67 years old. I'm primarily vegan but added a little organic ground beef, wild caught salmon and sardines to my diet over the last 6 months or so.

Brief Answer:
Please, report all medications you take to me!
Detailed Answer:
Hi and thanks so much for this query.
I will like to know what medications you are taking at this time. I have reviewed chorelia and liver damage doesn't seem to have this as a side effect. The yellowish coloration of your hands is not suggestive of jaundice.
Also, a value of 40 is not that alarming. Probing to understand more about your medications and controlling would be the best approach at this time.
Hope to hear from you at your earliest convenience.

I tried to respond to your answer but didn't see a reply button. Thank you for this email. You asked what do I take.
I take
1. EPAQ krill oil 2 soft gels 500mg EPA 150 mg. DHA 90 mg. phospholipid 420 mg. on days when I eat no wild caught salmon / sardines.
2. Prime Chlorella pure with cracked cell walls 200 mg per tablet. I was taking 12-15 tabs per day but the medical doctor told me to stop. I reduced it to 2-4 average per day and zero most days.
3. Sometimes I take one magnesium citrate capsule 150 mg at night when I feel stinging and bugs crawling on my legs (feels like). I think my siattic nerve causes this when I work hard in the garden. Two vetebrae were injured 20 years ago. The magnesium settles the feelings and I can sleep well. First I eat 1/2 cup sunflower seed for this and sometimes It works.
4. Probiotics latero flora BOD strain bacillus laterosporous. 70 mcg 1-2 capsules 4-5 days per week.
5. Small amount of miso and saurkraut.
My diet:
has been vegan for several years Recently I added: small amounts of wild caught salmon or sardines, organic ground beef (2 ounces two times per week) and liver (1-2 two ounce servings per month) organic cheese. I stopped eating wheat 5 months ago. After 4 days I felt great. I started eating more nuts and seed maybe too much?
I have Bloating before bedtime. I feel like I eat too much but I also feel hungry. As if I am not eating enough.
Activity: I started running 10k races last year (3 per year) i was running 5k often. Yoga 2-3 times per week. Seasonal: hard work in a large organic garden and our landscaping.
Spiritual: Buddhist practices such as meditation, bowing, chant when working outdoors. My sister is a Buddhist nun. My family is Christian.
I moved to rural north XXXXXXX 10 years ago from XXXXXXX TX and have no kindred spirits to practice with therefore I go to a Methodist church so I can meet people, socialize and learn about the needs of the community.
I am Caucasian, grew up on a farm in Mississippi (a state of the United States) , two sons I raised alone, career in human interface device technology, travelled to many countries. Retired and married at age 58. I am 67 now. 5feet 3 1/2 inches tall. Weight 118 pounds.
I am beginning to be forgetful. Especially short term. Forget words and names and where I put things.
I was concerned that the AST was 14-20 previous years but was 40 on the test last week. The lab indicates high range is 40+.

Thanks so much for this detailed report!

Hi and thanks so much for this detailed information. It gives me a clearer image about you.
For now, there is really nothing that raises great concerns about your health. I will only want to see the liver test repeated in 4weeks to see where they are. I am pretty sure the numbers would have fallen back into the normal range. Please, kindly communicate the new findings to me.
Keep me posted.......Stay active, interact with the community...These keep you going!
