What Do My CT Scan Test Results Indicate?

default
Posted on Wed, 4 May 2016
Question: I wrote to you a few weeks ago about my bronchiectasis. I had a CT scan this week, and the results showed that my lower lungs are okay (some emphesemetous (sp?) changes which have been there). My upper lobes however, have some mucous plugging and inflammation. I am having a bronchoscopy on the 29th and I'm wondering if you can tell me a little bit about the procedure. My doctor said the best case scenario would be to have a slow growing infection that can be treated with antibiotics. A worse scenario would be to have general inflammation that would need to be treated long term (forever?) with steroids. What are your thoughts?

Thanks, XXXXXXX XXX

Brief Answer:
Can you show me the CT images?

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX How are you. I am feeling extremely good by your follow up question.
Thanks for your follow up question on Health Care Magic.
I can understand your concern.
To comment of this, I need to first see the CT images.
Bronchiectesis is almost always associated with inflammation. Infection made it worse.
But inflammation will mostly stay.
I will tell you more after seeing the actual CT images.
Yes, Bronchoscopy is needed to confirm and isolate the causative organism.
In this, bronchoscope is introduced in the lungs through nose, larynx, vocal cords etc.
Then scope is negotiated in the area of interest (bronchiectetic part) for examination and sampling.
Sampling includes XXXXXXX (bronchoalveolar lavage), biopsy (if needed) and brushing (if needed).
Do you have CT images?
I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.

I have the dvd of the CT scan, just need to figure out how to send it. I am low tech but will consult with someone who is not and will send. I can tell you, while the lower loves looked okay, the upper lobes have lots of inflammation and some mucous plugs. They will be removed during the bronchoscopy, and maybe that will make me feel better? I just want to know what results to expect. I'll try to send scan soon...

No need to worry, I will wait for your results.
In my opinion, you should consult Health Care Magic team for this. They will definitely guide you more about it.
And yes, Bronchoscopy will remove mucus plugs and it will make you feel better.
Possibility of inflammation worsening by infection is more likely in your case.
Don't worry, reply me scans, so that I can guide you better.
I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.

I can't figure out how to share my CT scan with you. The dvd has a lot of images on it so the file is huge! Are there specific pictures that would be helpful? If I share to a cloud site are you able to access it?
