
What Do My ESR Test Results Indicate?

Question: Hi this is XXXXXXX my mother was suffering with diabetes for the last four years. from last four months she was struggling with body pains and leg cramps sometimes. for that,yesterday we have met one specialist doctor, he suggested to go for ESR test. in the test result, i have observed that ESR values for the first one hour is 15MM/hr and for the second hour is 25MM/hr. i don't know how it will effect my mother's health? could you please tell me about this ESR values range? what should i understand from those values? are those values really effect my mother's health?

ESR is a non specific indicator and it may increase in many conditions.
It is generally elevated in infection,inflammation etc.
Findings are not very serious except elevated blood sugar level.Blood sugar level need close monitoring.She may need adjustment of medicines for diabetes mellitus.
Hemoglobin level is also mildly decreased,she may need iron and folic acid tablet supplementation.
Rest of the findings are acceptable.
