What Do My LFT Test Results Indicate?
Question: Hi Doctor. Kinda freakin out here. Just got my liver test back. I took the liver test because the day before I had Rhabdo....black coffee colored urine. SGOT = 955 and SGPT=601. My house doc said Rhabdo has nothing to do with SGOT and SGPT values. Now they are running test for Hep A,B,and C. I do not have anysympthoms from Hep, A,B or C
Brief Answer:
Was CPK test done?
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for posting your query.
I am Dr.R.K and I am pleased to assist you.
SGOT and SGPT levels can increase in liver diseases and also in rhabdomyolysis.
Getting a CPK test helps in this situation.
A high SGOT and SGPT along with a raised CPK indicates rhabdomyolysis.
A high SGOT and SGPT with a normal CPK indicates liver disease
So get a CPK test done.
Viral markers (Hepatitis A, B and C) test are done when the SGOT and SGPT levels are multiple folds increased.
Discuss with your doctor about getting CPK test also done.
Let me know if you have any more questions.
Regards,
Dr.R.K.
